About this test
HBsAg (Hepatitis B surface antigen) is the primary screening test for Hepatitis B virus infection. A positive result indicates active infection — either acute (recent) or chronic (long-standing). The test is mandatory before surgery, blood donation, antenatal screening and for patients starting immunosuppressive therapy. A simple blood draw is all that is needed; no fasting required. Classic Diagnostics uses CLIA-based assays for high sensitivity and specificity.
