ECG (Electrocardiogram) — quick, painless 12-lead recording of the heart's electrical activity.

About this test

An Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) records the electrical activity of the heart from 12 leads on the chest, wrists and ankles. It immediately shows arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, ectopics, heart block), evidence of past or ongoing heart attack, left ventricular hypertrophy, and certain electrolyte disturbances. The test takes 5–10 minutes, is completely painless, and is reported by a cardiologist. It is the first-line cardiac test for chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness and routine cardiac screening.
