About this test
CT Abdomen and CT Abdomen-Pelvis are used to evaluate abdominal pain, suspected appendicitis, kidney stones (CT KUB), bowel obstruction, abdominal trauma, tumours of the liver, pancreas, kidneys or intestines, and to follow up known cancers. Contrast (intravenous and/or oral) is often used to highlight blood vessels, organs and bowel loops. The scan takes 10–15 minutes.
