Lipid Profile
Lipid Profile measures cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL — used to assess cardiovascular risk.
About this test
A Lipid Profile (or Lipid Panel) measures total cholesterol, LDL ("bad") cholesterol, HDL ("good") cholesterol, triglycerides and the VLDL fraction. It is essential for assessing cardiovascular risk, screening for atherosclerosis, and monitoring statin or other lipid-lowering therapy. The American Heart Association recommends a lipid profile every 4–6 years for healthy adults, and more often for those with diabetes, hypertension, family history of heart disease, or already on treatment. At Classic Diagnostics, samples are run on automated chemistry analysers and reports are issued the same day.
